The Lawyer: Debevoise executive Howard Rosenberg picks up CEO role at FRS Insight

Debevoise & Plimpton executive Howard Rosenberg has been appointed chief executive officer of legal professional services provider FRS Insight, owned by Fox Rodney Search.

Rosenberg has joined the company from Debevoise, where he was a business development strategist for private equity for over a year. He previously worked as a chief strategy officer and executive director for Baker & McKenzie’s Washington office and was the managing director of Berwin Leighton Paisner’s professional services business beprofessional, where he worked for 11 years.

Rosenberg is the company’s first CEO after its launch earlier this month. Fox Rodney Search decided to create the independent entity to help law and other professional services firms improve candidate screening. Rosenberg will be based in New York.

Rosenberg told The Lawyer that the job offer to join FRS Insight “was fantastic and was very entrepreneurial in nature”. He said that he is bringing his experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment to his new role.

FRS Insight’s focus is to help firms choose the right lateral hires in top-level roles.

“It’s actually under the guise of risk management. When partners get hired it’s a pretty crucial piece of growth regime for the firm,” he said. “Traditionally in a lot of senior partner roles, the necessary level of scrutiny hasn’t happened. It’s a quick reference check and background information.”

Rosenberg does not expect top lawyers to be averse to a closer analysis. “The candidates really want to be successful in their new role as well. People don’t want to be changing firms frequently,” he said.
